My site has a new name.
I love it much more than the first.
thank you Dusty, for helping develop (snicker) the name.

(sorry if this is a dupe - posting through Vox to LJ, kinda screwed the pooch on the first attempt)
Hope everyone is well … wish I had more time to write / read this thing (these things).
So … My trial-period is going to end soon for my photo-site, and I will probably go month-to-month at first until I can ramp up and get the full subscription, however … “stopbath.net” is already taken (another photography site) so I’m looking for a new site / company name. Suggestions welcome.
If you haven’t visited my budding little photo site., please do. Seriously, it would be awesome. Sign up!
My darling and sweet of a husband bought me this: OMG. 70-300mm
And on to another flippin' funeral today. I'm really done with DEATH, thanks.
GOD. the HELL?
One step closer to complete world domination …
Adding to my EP, album-cover, poster photo-portfolio, now with a book! Sure it’s not my book, but it is a book, and it’s about one of my favorite passtimes; KARAOKE!
Last summer, I was contacted by cultural historian Xun Zhou, who was writing a book on the history of karaoke, requesting permission to use a photo I'd taken of Alix singing at the Austin Korean Karaoke joint. Gladly, I agreed, of course – and have now been contacted again because the book is available on Amazon. The book is entitled
Karaoke: The Global Phenomenon
Here's the link: Karaoke: The Global Phenomenon in case you're totally hooked on the cultural history of karaoke, and I KNOW you are.
This is the photo that was used:
I'm so close to being nearly ALMOST famous, I should really hire a part-time publicist to handle my almost crazy not-quite-busy or productive "schedule", omg.
So we fly out tomorrow morning to Miami, and then head for our Liberty of the Seas adventure, cruising to a private island in the Bahamas. We’re taking my step-mom who’s never really been anywhere, so this is exciting for her (and us, and Zane). It is also her Birthday-weekend and Mother’s day, so it works out. She’s excited and wondering if she’ll need to pack towels. NO! Her ill-informed coworkers are telling her to stock up on bottled water and snacks for the room because “that stuff gets expensive”. Um, this is an all-inclusive super paid for gig. You don’t bring towels on a cruise. She didn’t think so, but these goofballs at her office are telling her all this wacky shit. Snacks? Expensive? No. You can eat for 24-hours solid at no additional cost. Even the alcohol is free. As are the towels. And the drinks. We’re going to be in a balcony suite, y’all. Zane has never been on a cruise ship, so he’s really excited about this. I am too. I’m ready. Let’s go!

Son Volt – Tonight on David Letterman (CBS)
Yesterday’s archived recording of Son Volt in the studio at WNYC; short set / acoustic, brief interview.
Two new Son Volt live videos:
”The Picture” at Mystic Theater, Petaluma CA.
Good and Wonderful People of Texas; Friends / Family of Joe! (I have limited access to LJ, so I will cross-post this to the hotbread community when I'm home - If anyone else would like to do so, that'd be awesome).
To quote Joe: "I hope you will engage in constructive activities, like supporting research towards finding a cure for the disease that took me down. Be watchful for the government attempting to block or prevent the research of new kinds of treatment, including stem cell research, and also other, as yet unknown, potentially controversial treatments.”
With this in mind … the following information has come from the Texas Freedom Network, who are offering very simple ways to support (stem cell) research in Texas.
The next seven weeks will be critical to the future of embryonic stem cell research in Texas, and it all starts this week. On Thursday, the House State Affairs Committee will hear testimony on seven bills related to stem cell research. But you don't have to drive all the way to Austin to have a voice at this hearing.
TFN has already received more than 1,300 postcards in support of stem cell research, and with our help they intend to double that number by the end of this month. They need you to sign up TODAY to become a postcard captain.
It's easy - if you know 10 friends and family members who will sign a postcard, you're already qualified.
E-mail them today and they will send you the simple Postcard Captain Packet with tips for collecting signatures, a bundle of postcards, and a return envelope.
Not everyone has time to come to Austin and address the Texas Legislature, but everyone can join this campaign to support scientific research that provides so much hope to so many. And it's simple:
The first step is to sign the petition yourself (if you haven't already done so).
http://tfn.org/petition/Stem%20Cell/
Then, e-mail Val at TFN to get your Postcard Captain Packet and help your friends get involved in this campaign.val@tfn.org
I have already emailed Valerie for the packet and signed the petition. I don’t know how much (if any) weight signing a petition or sending in postcards carries, ultimately – but if it gets attention, proves a point or generates a second-thought about controversial treatments (like stem-cell research), it’s worth doing.
Thanks!

Flickr ate most of my photos. Probably “user error”, who knows. I’m putting some back.
’s wedding photos, for instance. Some photos from New Years Day.
I love my friends more than they will ever know.
ps: the universe can seriously suck my cock.
Quick trip to Austin on Friday, returned on Saturday. Let me just surmise by saying that my friends are all awesome and beautiful people. I’m f-ing lucky to know each and every one of them. If I never make another friend in my life, I still win.
Anxiety in my throat. For y’all with problems with anxiety – do you feel it in your throat? It’s sometimes hard to swallow. Feels like somebody stepping on my neck a little. Maybe it’s the Sunday-blues. I get those anyway, but lately things have been far more stressful emotionally than usual. I suppose it makes sense.
We’re going to Bandera on Wednesday. Zane is on spring break and has begged to go to the Hill Country to ride horses and stay a ranch out there for a few days. He’s chomping at the bit (heh) to get away and take a break. School this year has been rough. He’s going through a weird 13-year old thing too, he’s even more sensitive than usual to things. He’s been generally bummed and depressed lately. I hate that.
On a lighter note … I’m going to bed and will be able to sleep a tiny bit later, even despite the dumb time change, because I don’t have to take the boychild to school tomorrow. :D He’s at my Dad’s until Tuesday evening. Whoooo!
I do not understand the deal with the jacked up fonts on Vox. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the font-thing.
ps - It's embarrassing how much enjoyment I get from watching COPS. It's shameful.
Yes.
i'm going. after work. meeting up with friend. enjoying beverage(s)
I'm never the one to do this (well, rarely) - but I'm going to. I need it.
oddly - I did get a 3% "merit increase" today, along with a surprise pro-rated bonus check.
those are both good things i suppose.
i still need that drink though.
